New printing coming soon

We are editing the brochure for an upcoming printing as we are being told by various places that give the brochure out it is running out. If you would like to place brochures out in your location, please let us know. Thank you to 1 Voice Community Center (1vcc.org) and This is HOW (thisishow.org) Maria de Nicola of Senza Pelo Med Spa, and Dr Toby Meltzer’s office for handing out the previous printing in the highest amounts. Your dedication to getting information out to the community is greatly appreciated.

Again, if you have a location that provides resources and you would like to have copies of the next printing, please do let us know at PhoenixTResources@gmail.com subject line Brochures Wanted.

Invite to Community Members

That’s right, WE WANT YOU!

WHO: Willing Volunteers
WHAT: Create a list of questions for those potentially included in future printings of the Phoenix T Resources Brochure.
WHEN: To be decided (based on the schedules of our volunteers, so write us now)
WHERE: To be announced but somewhere in Phoenix, AZ
HOW: To take part, write to PhoenixTResources@gmail.com with “Volunteer” in the subject line

It is now time to get together and work on the next step of making this resources list best meet the needs of those it is by and for. (Transsexual, Transgender, Gender Variant, Intersex, friends, family and allies in the Phoenix, AZ area.)

We would like to create a standard list of questions to ask people who want to be included in the resource brochure. If you would like to help create this list, please write to phoenixtresources@gmail.com and one of the worker elves will get back to you asap.

This resource list will best represent your needs if you volunteer. This is your opportunity to empower yourself and others by stepping up and speaking up.

Want to volunteer but aren’t into creating lists, questionnaires and the like? Do not worry, there is something you can do. For example we are looking for someone to help with the blog/website upkeep. So write to us; there are many other ways you can help keep this resource available and useful to our community. (And allies are always welcome!)

Our goal is to finish this list of questions soon so we can distribute it to the people recommended and put together the Summer 2011 issue of the brochure.

In the mean time, we did create a Pride printing of a temporary update based on community concerns. If you would like a copy, please let us know so that we can send you the template and you can print some out for your personal use or sharing with others.

In memory of Dr Pavese

Dr Richard Pavese formerly worked on chest reconstructions for both FtM and MtF patients. We were grateful that he wanted to be included in the first printing of this resource brochure. He will not be in future brochures since he passed on last year. Our condolences to the loved ones, friends and patients of Dr Richard Pavese who was lost to a tragic traffic accident. May his memory live on.

Welcome to our new Facebook worker elves!

We recently had two young men volunteer to help out with our Facebook page. I will let them announce their own names if they wish, or allow them to remain anonymous otherwise. They will be posting resources as they find them, adding people who request to be friends with the page and doing whatever they can to make it a fabulous resource for our community in this technological age.

If you would also like to help out, please contact us at PhoenixTResources@gmail.com or through our contact page.

If you are on Facebook, you can find us here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002226882071

Updated Youth and Parents Page

We added a new therapist to the brochure recently and now have confirmation that he is experienced in working with ages teen and up. We have added him to the Youth and Parents page so that hopefully some of the Transgender teens in Phoenix will have one more option. It is important that you find a therapist who works well with you and your parents. Not everyone will get along with every therapy type. So if you know of other Transgender friendly therapists with experience working with youth please let us know and we will check to see if they can be added to the brochure. Thank you Michael Peck for being on our site and upcoming printings.

Updates and proofreading

Updated the brochure and sent it out to various community members for proofing.

Called all the people potentially in the brochure and heard back from those who do and do not want to be included. (some doctors do not advertise even if it’s free)

Special thanks to Alex from PFLAG and ATMS for his input and Toni from This is HOW for hers.  Looks like we’re on schedule to get a special printing done in time for Phoenix Pride.
